Garage Door integration
This Trick of the month is integrating garage doors. Garage doors can be tricky in that you don’t always want to have the garage automatically open or close for safety reasons. It is nice to include garage doors in scheduling programming ei… at midnight every night close the garage door if open. The tip that goes with this trick is include an announcement one to two minutes before actuating the garage as a warning. ex… “Attention, the garage will be closing in 2 minutes!” Here is a sample of programming on my control4 system:
But why after 30 seconds do you have it closing again you ask?
Answer: As a safety. Its just in case we have a sensor problem or the electronics get confused and need verification that it will shut. If the garage door is already closed but the sensor is showing open it will just reclose the door. This is why there is a 30 second delay… because it takes roughly 25 seconds to close or open. It will aslo re-open the door if there is a blockage and hasn’t already re-opened itself. Now you can be assured your garage is closed at night or after leaving for work!

Old Man Winter Has Very Little Effect
The Cincinnati Metro area has been hit hard with snow over the weekend. We’ll face even worse snowfalls as winter arrives, but the snowfall over the weekend is nothing to sniff at. School closures and delays have plagued the area. Masterpiece Audio Video is still open for business.
